I feel a mixture of sadness and hapiness in her eyes . . .

Eyes to stop you in your tracks. A lesson in portraiture and composition. I can only stare in wonder and wish I could do work like this.

I've no chance of knowing what her eyes see in her day-to-day life just as she has none of knowing what I, sitting here at my computer, see in mine. So I let go of the impossible and look for what is left and in so doing find the true power of your photography, Dana. What I see in her eyes is someone just like me who is living in different circumstances. In her eyes I see someone like my granddaughter, like my daughters, like the people I see at the homeless shelter ...

The differences are trivial. The similarities are everything.

What an amazing capture, those eyes are so deep and gentle. The old saying " The eyes are the window to the soul", seems to be true in this shot.

A lovely portrait taken at just the right angle and with a great natural crop to the face.

Another strong portrait. Your images of the African people are wonderful.

I know you have probably answered this questions a million times, but what takes you over there? Is it work? Is it volunteering to help your fellow man? Just curious. Thanks. :-)

I love this one, Dana. What you saw in her that made you ask for a photo, is easily seen here. I love the way you take us to places we've never been and give us a glimpse into a greater story that is happening in our global neighborhood.
